It’s time for All Hands on Deck
2020 will be remembered forever. The coronavirus pandemic and the global fight for racial justice have impacted our society both significantly and immediately like nothing seen in multiple generations. Literally overnight, the professional workforce of the world began working entirely remote. Unfortunately, some are already referring to this work from home shift as the “new normal”, but that would be a mistake. What’s coming will be way different than anything we’ve seen before and far from anyone’s normal. Society has been heading to a crossroads that the founding board members of Operation GSD have seen coming in our day to day work. The events of 2020 have given the world a mammoth push in that direction. There’s no slowing this train down and the workforce we need now is far from ready.

Long before 2020, as leaders in the world of technology and strategy consulting, we had been witnessing an accelerated push into automation, the deployment of advanced analytics and the new demand for AI across our entire client base from commercial to public sector organizations. This crisis has rapidly accelerated that effort and is leading quickly to a massive employment shift. New graduates from even top universities are being left on the sidelines. Of the experienced employees being furloughed, those without the required digital skills may see their temporary departure made permanent. The companies that make it through this are going to be leaner by necessity, they’ll be relying on this new digital tool box, and they’ll require a ready workforce to help them execute.

We developed Operation GSD driven by a passion to make a difference, but in 2020 that passion turned into an all out emergency. It’s time for all hands on deck like never before. The workforce of the future is needed today.

About GSD

All three groups interact within the Operation GSD platform. Our training platform enables tracking of all missions, organizations, training, credentials, and experts within the network. We provide a mix of virtual and in-person classes coupled with hands-on labs and real-world projects. These are tracked on student profiles along with their “reps” for the projects they have worked on.

Approved non-profit and community organizations work with our experts to sponsor new missions on the platform. The Experts and Learners can then see and volunteer for these missions through the interactive platform. Our credentialing and reps tracking algorithms ensure folks with the right skillsets and experience are teamed on the right missions. Our algorithms ensure each mission team has a mix of experts and learners so students can gain experience while still ensuring high quality delivery. Partner organizations and companies can also participate in the network by volunteering their experts to provide training or mentorship as well as participate and lead missions. They also have access to network with other professionals and learners within the platform for their own projects.
